Starting with EventSentry v3.4, several server-side components of EventSentry, including the:

  • Collector
  • Heartbeat Agent service
  • Network Services service

utilize parallel transactions when communicating with Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure a high throughput. The original SQL Server ODBC driver that ships with all versions of Windows since Windows 2000, the SQL Server ODBC driver, is likely to cause stability issues with the above listed components on busy networks.

As such, it is highly recommended to install the latest ODBC driver for SQL Server, such as the Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server, to avoid stability issues.

The SQL Server Native drivers may also be used if they do not cause stability issues.

Restart all EventSentry services after installing the correct ODBC driver(s).
