Dashboard

The Dashboard shows you the complete health status of a server at a glance. The dashboard shows you the following information:

 

Heartbeat status
Current CPU utilization (total)
Current System Memory utilization
Current Disk Queue Length
All hard disks, including free space
Basic System information, including CPU Type & Count, installed OS & Service Pack, installed memory and total available and free disk space

The Dashboard relies on disk space, system information, performance and data being written to the database. The following data needs to be present:

 

1.Disk space data needs to be written to the database at least every 12 hours
2.System Information needs to be written to the database
3.The following performance counters need to be written to the database at least every 30 minutes:
Processor(*)\% Processor Time
Memory\Available MBytes
PhysicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk Queue Length

 

The Dashboard also requires Macromedia® Shockwave Player version 8 (or later) to be installed in order to correctly identify outdated data.

 

 

Dashboard Display Modes

The dashboard can show computers using three methods

 

Show all computers from an EventSentry computer group
Show all computers from favorites
Show a single computer

Computer Group

To view all computers in a group, simply select the appropriate group from the Groups drop-down list and click Display. You can add computers from a group to y our favorites by clicking the clip0351 icon. If a computer is already a member of the favorites, then the star will be shown in yellow clip0352.

 

Favorites

By default, computers from your favorites are displayed when you visit the dashboard. You can add computers to your favorites by clicking the gray star icon which is displayed in the top right corner of the rectangle (clip0351), and remove them from your favorites by clicking the yellow star (clip0352). You can also modify the computers in the favorites the profile editor (using a comma-separated list).

 

Single Computer

To display a single computer only, select the computer from the Computers drop-down list and click Display.

 

Automatically detecting outdated data

If data from a monitored computer is outdated then an orange exclamation mark will be shown along with the respective gauge. If no data is present at all, then a red error symbol will be shown instead.

Alert or Warning 1 24 n g

The indicators for outdated data will only be shown when you are using Flash version 8.x or later. If you are using an earlier version of Flash (e.g. version 7), then the graphical indicators will not appear and there will be no way for you know when data shown in the dashboard is not up-to-date.

All dashboard gauges can be clicked to retrieve more information:

 

CPU Gauge: Shows Processor(*)\% Processor Time performance charts
Memory Gauge: Shows Memory\Available MBytes performance charts
Average Disk Queue Length: Shows PhysicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk Queue Length performance charts
Disk Cylinders: Shows disk space charts for clicked drive
Heartbeat Bulb: Shows Heartbeat Status page

 

Clicking on the Events, Heartbeat, Disk, Performance, Services and Applications buttons will also bring you to respective page, with the computer item already preselected.
