Navigation: Web Reports > Event Log Searches > Event Record Details |
You can view all available event details, including binary data, by clicking on the event number, event time or event message text. This will open (popup) a window similar to the one shown below:
Searching for Additional Information You can search for additional information on an event by clicking one of the links in the Search line. Each link will search a different resource on the web to find more information and user comments on a particular event.
Adding Comments You can add comments to event log records by filling out the "Add New Comment" field and clicking the SUBMIT button. This will associate a comment with the event which is especially useful when multiple Administrators are using the web reports.
Add comment only to this individual record By default, comments are associated with the source and ID of an event record, and as such will show up with all events that share the same event source and event id. By checking this checkbox you link the comment to only this particular event. This is useful when you need to explain why a particular event (e.g. a failed backup at a given date) occurred and how it was resolved.
Also send this comment to myeventlog.com We recommend checking the "Also send this comment to myeventlog.com" checkbox if the comment is not security-sensitive and potentially useful to other EventSentry users. Submitting comments to and searching for comments at the community web site http://myeventlog.com is free and can help many other administrators save valuable time.
Acknowledging Events You can acknowledge events by clicking on the "Close Window & Acknowledge" link which will flag the record as acknowledged. You can later search for only acknowledged (or non-acknowledged) events in the search page. |
