Navigation: Monitoring with EventSentry > System Health Monitoring > Performance Monitoring > Alert Groups |
In addition of being notified when a single counter exceeds your configured threshold, you can choose to be notified if one or more monitored counters are in an alerted state. This is possible by adding on or more counters to an Alert Group.
1. Creating an Alert Group Select a "Performance Monitoring" object from an existing health package, or create a new health package and add a performance monitoring object by right-clicking the package and selecting "Add -> Performance Monitoring". Click the Alert Groups button which will bring up the following dialog:
To create a new alert group, enter the name of the group (e.g. "High System Usage") into the "Alert Group Name" field and click the Add button. Since group alerts are logged to the event log you will need to configure under which severity alerts will be written to the event log by selecting the appropriate severity from the Log to Event Log as drop-down menu.
2. Adding Counters to an Alert Group A alert group needs at least two counters, which you have previously configured under "Alerts", in order to be useful. To add a counter:
See "Event Logs" for a list of all event log entries that will be logged by this feature.
3. Deleting a Counter from an Alert Group To delete a counter from an alert group:
Please note that a performance alert group needs at least two counters to be useful.
4. Deleting an Alert Group To delete an alert group:
Please note that all associated counters will automatically be removed from the alert group. |
